“’Scuse me. Yeah, you sir. The one with the rainbow suspenders and the ‘probably still gay,’ t-shirt. Are you?”

“Yes I am.”

“Thanks. Just checking.”

That’s a question, not a test. You need reproduceable data.

Perhaps a long term survey with the same question asked at specified intervals. Perhaps annually during Pride week would be a good timeframe.

Or maybe biannually since sexuality can be fluid depending on the person.

Is this the brand car of choice now? I have never noticed a strong pattern with gay men.

Lesbians aren’t as into Subarus as they used to be, either.

Agreed on both, since both brands are blowing up in popularity. But if you go back a decade or more, both had strong correlations (ownership stats, advertising in Out magazine, etc). And as we all know, car stereotypes are fun. And they have to start somewhere.

In my areas there seemed to be a thing for Minis in the 00s and Miatas in the 90s. I don’t have a good stereotype for the 80s, but my first memory of a Subaru was my dad’s friend Alejandro that owned an XT. Today I couldn’t even come up with anything. The Honda Fit is as close as I’ve got.

Nissan Jukes seem to be very popular among gay men.

I prefer to take my BMW to pride events. The guys just love my stick (shift).

I didn’t realize that was what you were getting at, I thought you meant my Audi (yes, I had one, the stereotype is true) which I got rid of 2 years ago.

Lol, sorry for the confusion — the quotation marks were part of the stereotype (or statistical reference, if you prefer). I’ve had nothing but VW/Audi stuff and have heard & read it more times than I can count...
